Saraswati Puja, an inseparable facet of Basant Panchami festivities, venerates Saraswati, the Hindu goddess embodying knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and erudition. Observers believe that invoking Saraswati's blessings on this occasion augurs success in scholastic pursuits, creativity, and intellectual endeavors. Schools, colleges, and educational institutions orchestrate special prayers, rituals, and gatherings to honor Saraswati and beseech her divine guidance.

This year, Basant Panchami coincided with the 14th of February, 2024, Wednesday. On this auspicious day, Doon Ghati College embraced the spirit of Basant Panchami with profound enthusiasm and reverence, culminating in a grand Saraswati Puja event that brought together students, faculty, and staff to pay homage to the goddess of knowledge and celebrate the essence of learning.

Setting the Scene:

Saraswati Puja at the College In the tranquil embrace of a sunny morning at 10 AM, the picturesque campus of Doon Ghati College of Professional Education, nestled at 159 Gurudwara Road, Prem Nagar Bazar, Doiwala, Dehradun, sprung to life with a kaleidoscope of colors and spiritual fervor as students, faculty, and staff convened to commemorate Saraswati Puja.

The rituals commenced with the meticulous adornment of the Saraswati idol, representing the embodiment of divine wisdom and enlightenment. With utmost devotion, students and devotees embellished the idol with floral garlands, fragrant blooms, and auspicious offerings, infusing it with reverence and sanctity. The kindling of the ghee lamp symbolized the dispelling of ignorance and the enlightenment of consciousness, ushering in clarity of thought and enlightenment. As the aromatic allure of dhoop and incense wafted through the air, a sanctified ambiance enveloped the gathering, fostering an atmosphere conducive to prayer and introspection.

Key Participants and Their Roles

Smt. Archana Das, Director of the College, bedecked in traditional attire, gracefully illuminated the ghee lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. Dr. Lalit Mohan Sharma, Principal of the college, presided over the ritual of lighting the dhoop, suffusing the atmosphere with the essence of spirituality and devotion. Smt. Deepika Chauhan, Head of the B.Ed Department, offered prayers and lit incense sticks, invoking the divine presence of Goddess Saraswati. Kuldeep Acharya, Coordinator of the B.Ed Department, mesmerized the audience with his mellifluous rendition of Saraswati Vandana, a hymn dedicated to the goddess of learning. Mr. Rishi Pant from the Accounts department undertook the auspicious task of distributing yellow sweets to the attendees, a tradition synonymous with Saraswati Puja.
